New moon = new vibes

Today’s relationship-themed moon vibes got me thinking about one of my favorite Sex and the City quotes 🥰

“Later that day I got to thinking about relationships. There are those that open you up to something new and exotic, those that are old and familiar, those that bring up lots of questions, those that bring you somewhere unexpected, those that bring you far from where you started, and those that bring you back. But the most exciting, challenging and significant relationship of all is the one you have with yourself. And if you can find someone to love the you you love, well, that’s just fabulous.” – Carrie Bradshaw

We, as humans, are always performing. We put on the facades, the smiles, the everything-is-ok-and-I’m-happy-to-see-you’s. We do it instinctively a lot of the time. I’ve come to learn it’s another survival skill. The last week or so I’ve been able to clearly identify where I do this in all kinds of ways 😳 I think that’s part of what this time of life offers us – dropping the veil to see what’s actually there.

It offers us a pause to reflect and decide if that’s who we want to be. If yes, then keep going and do your thing! If not, what different decisions need to be made? We have the power in every moment to choose differently. Sometimes we just need the pause to decide what that is. This period of time is offering us the opportunity to pause and evaluate (especially if you find yourself in your menstruation phase of your menstrual cycle! 🙋🏻‍♀️)

Some ideas to ponder:

🤔Do you have people in your life that you’re truly able to be yourself with? The good, the ugly, the judgemental, the dirty little secrets that stay locked in a chamber of secrets.

🤔 When you find yourself performing, what’s underneath the action? In other words, what are you trying to get from others that has you in performance mode? This can be anything from attention to respect to friendship. (Ugly truth about this – this is the basis for manipulation. We tend to think of manipulation as malicious, but it isn’t always. Sometimes we perform to get a basic need met. There’s a previous IG post on this if you need!)
