In case you haven’t been on social media lately, the plethora of graduations are upon us, which can only signal one thing – summer is here! Even if it’s not “technically” summer yet, afterall the summer solstice is still a good month away, kids are finishing up school, vacations are being planned and embarked on and parents everywhere are either rejoicing or hiding in fear.

I got a text from my dear friend Audrey today asking me what my top 5 oil suggestions would be for a summer vacation. She’s leaving on a trip for some summer fun and wants to be prepared for anything! Being able to use plants in a pinch is such an empowering feeling. How much simpler can it be than to reach over to your oil bottles and use anything you need when the situation calls for it? It’s one of the things I love so much about using them – that and they travel so super well!!

Without further adieu, I bring to you my top 5 oils you must have when you’re traveling!! Word of warning, since she only asked for 5, I’m giving you 5….. but I could probably list at least 20 if you let me =)

  1. Peppermint – soother of all things tummy, muscles, head tension and did I mention it helps cool the body?! Hello summer heat, you’re no match for Peppermint! Try adding 15-20 drops of Peppermint in a glass spray bottle (like a 5oz bottle) and filling the rest up with water, spray on the back of your neck, chest, pulse points, etc. I hear it’s even better if you’re standing in front of a fan 😉
  2. Lavender – cue the eyeroll. Yes, I know, by now you’ve been inundated with how amazing lavender is (but for real – it is), so you’re probably not surprised to see it on my list of oils you must have this summer. The reason being is lavender is so super soothing to the skin (think occasional skin irritations, flying critters that bite and sting, sun rays that could leave your skin a little crispy, etc.). In fact, it’s best if you make the After Sun Soothing Spray recipe I gave you below and take that with you!
  3. TerraShield Outdoor Blend – because, BUGS. Everywhere!!!! Need I say more? Use this blend topically on your skin and keep the biters away without breathing in all the toxic crap from the commercial brands.
  4. Basil – this one might surprise you. I really love Basil to help support the adrenal glands (read: helps with energy) and also actually helps you stay cool! Check out the blogpost I wrote on Basil here.
  5. TriEase Seasonal Softgels – I don’t know if you’re like me, but the sneezing, watery eyes and congestion that rear during spring and summer when everything is blooming and pollinating tooooootally take its toll on me. I don’t go anywhere without these softgels! They’re made up of lemon, lavender and peppermint essential oils to keep those seasonal threat symptoms at bay while you have some fun!

As always, if you don’t have these oils on hand, feel free to reach out to me so I can help make sure you’re prepared for anything this summer!
